Uber taxi
I signed up to the app and within 3 fucking minutes I had a car at my front door.

£26.22 from brick lane to chadwell Heath what a bargain I don't know the normal cab fare for that or even a black taxi.

Is this the end of black taxis? The rats of London maybe a thing of the past?

Checking the app now and I have 5 cars within waiting time of 2 minutes to my house

WOW!

Re: Uber taxi
I took one a few weeks ago and the driver was really pissed off with the company - said they keep squeezing them and paying lower rates and reckoned loads of drivers were leaving.

But aren't all their drivers illegal immigrants? Unlike black cab drivers.

Re: Uber taxi
Tipping cab drivers is bullshit.

"Thanks for driving me a couple of miles for twenty quid mate, here's another two quid for your trouble. I hope the ten minutes it took you didn't trouble you too much."

Wankers!

Re: Uber taxi
Uber is great. I love the way they clog up London's streets, working for peanuts so that people who put three years training in can't earn a living. I like the way they won't pay any tax because they earn so little, I like the way that the state will subsidise your cab fares because they are paid so little.

They really are an asset to the country. I can't for the life of me think why some countries protected their workers by outlawing them.

I like the reference to tax.

Re: Uber taxi
On your way to chadwell heath did you ask to see the drivers hire and reward insurance? Wouldnt matter if you did as most are driving uninsured on their normal car insurance. Also if tfl didnt force taxi drivers to spend the best part of £50000 to buy a taxi or spend £12000 a year to rent then maybe their fares could come down.

The insurance issues etc need to be cleared up. But it is a proper good service.

Re: Uber taxi
I understand that Uber, now they have their driver numbers in place, have increased their commission by 25%, dropped their mileage charge rate by a quite a bit and halved their waiting time charge.

Understandably, a lot of them are pissed off. I was talking to one a couple of weeks ago, great service in the smoke but apparently they are leaving in droves.

Fantastic service use it all the time, streatham to hornchurch 44 quid.

easy ton in a black cab.

Re: Uber taxi
What needs to be cleared up? You either have hire and reward insurance to pick up passangers or you dont. I went in a black cab a couple of weeks ago from holborn into the west end, it cost me £9, a few other mates I met up with did an alnost exact same journey in uber for £6. I laughed at my mates that they would get in an uninsured car with a driver with no crb check for the sake of £3. I for one would never allow any of my family to travel.in an uber car.

As most taxi drivers are right-wing, I'm sure they love to see capitalism in action with little regard for workers rights.

'What needs to be cleared up'

Nothing, when you're saving a minimum of a 3rd on each journey.

I'd be inclined to agree to be honest, were it not for the fact that black cabbies have been absolutely fucking rinsing the system, and completely fleecing tax. I'd hand on heart say I reckon not one single one of them has paid what they should have in tax, and they'll be the first mob to complain about the state of the country.

Re: Uber taxi
Absolute rubbish Ritchie. uber drivers are licensed by the same PCO as black cabbies and are CRB checked. As part of licensing they need to show H&R insurance! Regardless of this you as a Third Party would be full covered for any accidents in their vehicles even if they did have just standard private car cover.

Its just the standard BS black cabbies like to put out there to try and deter people from using Uber. And let's not even get on to tax paying like black cabbies declare all their earnings!!

Spandex Sidney 12:44 Mon Sep 14
Re: Uber taxi
Won't be long and an app can be made compulsory for all cab drivers that track all their trips and therefore earnings. Real time information straight to HMRC and they get a monthly bill for the tax.

I would fucking LOVE this to happen and make cab drivers do what the rest of us have to, i.e. pay our own way.
